Ahora… volvamos rápidamente hasta el verano de 2012, cuando la leyenda vuelve a cobrar vida bajo la guía cinematográfica, la pasión y la experiencia de Leonardo Perel. Un sueño de Leonardo se hará realidad con la realización y finalización de esta película de ficción. Como parte de la dedicación de Leonardo a promover la cultura del cine, él disfrutó especialmente de todos los aspectos prácticos de hacer películas y compartir sus conocimientos con los jóvenes. Al participar en las partes creativas y conceptuales de la producción, encontró puro disfrute y fue un productor natural. Encontró que el desafío de trabajar con cantidades mínimas de equipo en entornos naturales accidentados era muy emocionante, ¡incluida la creación de una plataforma rodante para la cámara que funcionaría en arena, barro, lluvia y viento! Cómo colgar a la niña de un árbol! Desafíos que enfrentó con creatividad y entusiasmo. Esta producción del programa “Jovenes en Video” se convirtió en una gran masa de energía creativa —niños, adultos, ancianos, todosanteños, extranjeros y profesionales— brindando talleres de actuación, audiciones de casting, vestuario por mujeres del pueblo , maquillaje, narradores, caballos, catering y hasta un helicóptero para la cámara.
La Ahorcadita se ha convertido en la imagen icónica de Todos Santos en BCS e internacionalmente. Leonardo dejó un legado que hemos seguido con pasión y mucho amor !

Now… let’s quickly go back to the summer of 2012, when the legend is brought to life again under the cinematographic guidance, passion and experience of Leonardo Perel. Leonardo’s dream will come true with the making and completion of this fictional film. As part of Leonardo’s dedication to promoting film culture, he especially enjoyed all the practicalities of making films and sharing his knowledge with young people. By participating in the creative and conceptual parts of the production, he found pure enjoyment and was a natural producer. He found the challenge of working with minimal amounts of equipment in rugged natural environments to be very exciting, including creating a dolly for the camera that would perform in sand, mud, rain, and wind! How to hang the girl from a tree! Challenges that he met with creativity and enthusiasm. This production of the “Jóvenes en Video” program became a great mass of creative energy —children, adults, the elderly, all of them, foreigners and professionals— providing acting workshops, casting auditions, costumes by local women, makeup, storytellers, horses, catering and even a drone for the camera.
“La Ahorcadita” has become the iconic cinematic image of Todos Santos in BCS and internationally. Leonardo left a legacy that we have followed with passion and love!

La Ahocadita
La historia de La Ahorcadita se inició en Todos Santos hace cerca de 200 años Una jovencita que vivía la vida cotidiana de rancho quedó embarazada bajo circunstancias misteriosas… o por lo menos eso decía su suegra. Conforme pasaba el tiempo y su abdomen iba en aumento, también iba en aumento la imaginación de su suegra, quien llegó a pensar que su embarazo era producto de fuerzas siniestras, y que la inocente jovencita debía ser liberada del mal con un fuerte golpe de metate que la mató. Para cubrir su crimen la señora con ayuda de su hijo envolvió el cuerpo en una piel de vaca y lo llevó a un olivo lejos del centro del pueblo y lo colgó para hacer creer que se había suicidado. Con el tiempo, se supo la verdad sobre el crimen de esta bella jovencita. El mito comenzó y gente de todas partes de la República Mexicana empezaron a venir para ofrecerle sus oraciones y regalos a ella y el bebé que había en su vientre. La Ahorcadita hace milagros para aquellos que vienen a honrarla y visitan su tumba al lado de ese majestuoso olivo que sigue de pie en las afueras del pueblo de Todos Santos. Una leyenda que se transformó en un culto vigente y actual.

Living a simple life on the rancho, a young woman became with child under mysterious circumstances… or so says her mother-in-law! As time went on and her belly grew, so did the imagination of her mother-in-law until it was so great that she decided it must be the work of sinister forces and the girl had to be freed from evil by striking her down with a metate! In order to cover up the dirty deed committed upon the innocent girl, her body, wrapped in cowhide, was taken to a beautiful olive tree far from the center of the pueblo and made to look like she took her own life by hanging and was consequently buried there. As time went on and the truth of this lovely young woman’s death became known to the public, people have come from all over Mexico, far and wide to offer gifts and prayers to her and the unborn child. In return, La Ahorcadita grants miracles to many who come to visit her tomb, next to the majestic olive tree still standing in the desert, just outside of Todos Santos. A legend that became a cult nowadays.
