Nudo Mixteco

Un poderoso tríptico de historias que se cruzan en un pueblo de la mixteca oaxaqueña, regido por usos costumbres que hablan sobre la difícil situación de las mujeres indígenas en México, combatiendo el triple golpe de la pobreza, la intolerancia y la masculinidad tóxica. Si bien el tema es profundo, la narración compasiva y hábil asistida por actuaciones sólidas, da como resultado un film de enorme atractivo visual y emocional. Las mujeres de Nudo Mixtico han sufrido, pero son autosuficientes y orgullosas. Las tres narraciones se vinculan en lugar y tiempo: San Mateo, un pueblo mixteco en el estado sureño de Oaxaca, durante la celebración de su santo patrón. Cada uno involucra a un migrante económico que regresa al pueblo por diferentes motivos personales, cada visita implica una gran tensión. El título “Nudo Mixteco” deja abierto a la interpretación: la vida para todos en el pueblo golpeado por la pobreza es ciertamente ‘nudosa’, al igual que la decisión de quedarse o irse; al mismo tiempo reflexiona sobre la amarga realidad de tantos lazos familiares.

A powerful triptych of stories that intersect in a town in the Oaxacan Mixteca, governed by customs that speak about the difficult situation of indigenous women in Mexico fighting the triple blow of poverty, intolerance and toxic masculinity. While the subject matter is profound, the compassionate and skillful storytelling supported by strong performances results in a film of enormous visual and emotional appeal. The women of Nudo Mixteco have suffered, but they are self-sufficient and proud. The three narratives are linked in place and time: San Mateo, a Mixtec town in the southern state of Oaxaca, during the celebration of their patron saint. Each one involves an economic migrant who returns to the village for different personal reasons, each visit implies great tension. The title “Nudo Mixteco” leaves it open to interpretation: life for everyone in the poverty-stricken town is certainly ‘knotty’, as is the decision to stay or go; at the same time he reflects on the bitter reality of so many family ties.
